Thank you for your humility, Pete. I'm curious of what your friend noticed in you? To go back to the origins of the prophetic lineage, it helps me to look at Moses' encounter with God in Exodus 3.
3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
4 And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
We see that "turn aside" phrase used twice for emphasis. The encounter with God (which by the way occurred in his latter years!) begins with a pause in the wilderness and a careful noticing. My understanding of Moses and the prophets is that they are the ones who pause and take notice of reality, who are highly sensitive to injustice, and who quiet themselves to listen for the sake of others.
With Moses, there were signs early on like when he became enraged at the Egyptian soldiers for their treatment of the Hebrew slaves.
Last thing, I appreciate Mother Teresa's line, "We can do no great things, only small things with great love." And I see that as the practical prophetic witness - small and ordinary things with great love.
It was in 2012 that a friend suggested I was a prophet. I laughed.
I'm 89 and I've just posted an introduction that is still a work-in-progress.
I've no idea where I go from here.
We have been on very different journeys
I'd appreciate any thoughts.

Thank you for asking! Much peace and good to you.
